I've been following Drag Racing for 40 years and it's always hard to see a racer lose his or her life doing what we all love, for us the spectators. Thanks Scott for all the years of racing for us and risking your life everyday on the track. To the whole Kalitta family,my deepest regrets.
What was suppose to be a great day for me on my birthday turned to a day of tragedy as i am a fellow drag racer. The loss of anyone on the track racer or crew member is like loosing a blood relative it hits hard and it hits the heart forever. You will be missed Scott hope to see you at the tree when its time for me to go. My condolences to the family. KEEP ON RACING SCOTT GIVE HEAVEN A RUN LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!!!!!
SADLY MISSED, SCOTT WAS A REALLY GREAT PLEASURE TO WATCH ON THE TRACK,AND ALWAYS HAD A GREAT ATTIDUE BOTH WIN OR LOSE,DRAG RACING LOST A GOOD ATHLETE AND NEVER WANT TO SEE KALETTA RACING HANG IT UP. BEEN WATCHING CONNIE SCINCE THE DAYS OF THE DOLLAR BILLS ON THE SIDE OF THE FUNNY CAR ALONG WITH SHIRLEY
We miss scott at the track. will keep him in our memories . hope the Kalitta family keeps racing for him .with all my condolences to friends and family Nelson Mentor , ohio
Scott did wonderful things for the world of drag racing. Drag racing wouldn't be what is today if it wasn't for the entire Kalitta family. I never had a chance meet Scott, but I sure wish I would have. Take care Kalitta family and race on!
my heart goes out to all the family and friends of Scott . we will all miss him greatly and his courage, guts and balls on the race track.HE WAS A STUD!
As a sign of respect, Robert Hight idled down the track, as Scott's team stood in his place on the start line - one of the saddest moments I can remember. A very touching moment for a truly great Champion.
Wonderful tribute...The music is so appropriate. Scot must have been much loved...RIP
All of the Kalitta crew members assemble at the starting line during the first round of competition when Scott Kalitta was to race against Robert Hight. Hight respectfully idled down track in tribute to Scott.
This is the best video in honor of Scott Kalitta
Scott was a tue champion to the sport I love and have grown up watching. My brother and I were at Englishtown when Scott went to drag racing heaven and he is watching us all now. Thanks for the memories. We love you and will miss you!
My dad used to work on Connie's airplanes and Scott and I would sit around and shoot the breeze. He grew up in racing and died doing what he loved. He was taught to fly high and live life to the fullest. Our hearts go out to the Kallita family. always remember his smile!
Scott Kalitta a true Gentleman and great a Champion. He will be missed by fans and the sport of drag racing. May God bless his loved-ones and friends. I remember the first time that I introduced drag racing to my daughter who was only 18 months old at the time; she was in awe at the bright colored fast cars and became a drag racing fan like her dad. Scott Kallita the first and fastest car that day and my daughters favorite driver. Thank you Scott Kallita for giving a dad and daughter a moment to share and enjoy great racing by a gentleman and great diver.
SCOTT TY FOR ALL THE EXCITING RACES U BROUGHT US FANS OVER THE YEARS...CONNIE TY FOR SHARING UR SON WITH WORLD I HAVE 9YO SON ..I CANT IMAGINE HAVING TO BURY HIM...BUT TAKE LIL COMFORT HE DIED DOING WHAT HE LOVED! A NHRA FAN WAY BACK WHEN, MARK CARPENTER
Thanks to veterans like Connie and the dedicated racers like Scott we all get to enjoy the amazing sport of professional drag racing. Thanks again to Scott and his family for sharing their life with us. He will surely be missed.
I watched Connie for years and then when Scott started racing I watched him all the time. We race Pro Mod Achohol and I have seen some terrible accedents but Scott's was one of the worst ever. I hope only good come's out of this because there are some good track 's and some bad one's also. Something need's be done we must have more shut down area. I like the mile high track, because you go uphill after the finish line and then it flaten's out again. Thanks For The Memories Jeff/Speedy
Never met Scott but loved to watch him drive. He is upstairs working on his next race car I'm sure.

One of the BEST of the BEST. GOD is and always will be with Scott and family. Fly Faster...
I met scot i a most un likely place. HE had flown with hi dad to roswell nm. to see about some a\c parts 747 to be exzact. I snuck a peek at his dad's airplane and in side was Scot we had nice chat I dismissed my self. Thinking he was just like me a working man, down to earth and we had a good time. what a treasure to loose. GOD'S SPEED SCOT.
Hi,I Wally Dale and my fellow racers well allways remeber Scott, not forgotten.Scott was one the best drivers .I was real shocked when this happen.Scott is in a better place,he will watch over us,Connie, you and your family will always be in my prayers.God bess you all.Lets keep Racing,See you at Track.
What a loss, I met Scott a few times in Pomona Ca. at the Winternationals and Finals. I met him thru Fuzzy Carter (crew cheif for Eddie Hill) Scott was a great guy to be around. Maybe Scott and Fuzzy will once again be together maybe even racing again in heaven racing others like Blain Johnson which I knew also.
THAT MORNING I WAS RIDING AROUND ON MY GOLF CART AND I SAW SCOTT WALKING BY HIMSELF. HE LOOKED UP, HIS EYES AND MINE MET. I STATED THAT WAS SCOTT KALITTA. LATER THAT DAY, I WAS ON THE STARTING LINE AND THE FIRST TWO FUNNY CARS I SAW WAS THAT OF SCOTT. I WATCHED THE RUN. ALL WAS CALM. WHEN WE HEARD THE NEWS, ALL WAS SAD. I WAS LUCKY, CAUSE THAT MORNING WHEN HIS EYES MET MINE, HE WAS SAYING GOODBYE TO ME. HE IS NOW AT REST UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.
I remember it well. That was before the wheelie bar now used. Scott had a big set to stay in it and it attests to his drive and love for our sport. He is shaking his head at NHRA's decicion to shorten to 1000 feet. That is not how Scott would want to be remembered. More like.... You lift You LOSE!! Just make the tracks safe for 333 mph passes. THAT is what would honor Scott and put meaning to his sacrifice.....
scott /eric / blane / dearal YOU ARE ALL MISSED
We happened to sneak into the Mac Tools section. Scott was in the final and it was made clear that they were going for a new national record. At the light, the front end started coming up and Scott stayed in it just a little too long. End result? The car skidded to a stop right in front of us. Scott emerged with a smile. That was a great moment for us. It was very exciting for all of us, Scott included. RIP. We will always remember you.
SCOTT raceing fan will you r.i.p. melvin shorts upper marlboro md
