As a news junkie, I followed with great admiration and respect the work of Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, especially when she arrived in Washington to serve in Congress. She was defintely a leader to the first degree and as an African American she exemplified the dreams of so many as she strived for the very best in this country, as well as abroad.

I remember meeting you at alum functions and in coffee shops when I attended Case Law and I remembered being introduced to you by the late Leslie Epps who passed away from Leukemia two years ago. You both grew up in the Cleveland area. You had a beautiful smile and the most calm manner for someone who was a prosecutor which appeared to carry over to Congress. I wish your son the best. He had a mother he will always be proud of.

To Mervyn and the entire family I am Craig Miller's mom from Lakeland FL. Mervyn and Craig were teammates on the Hiram College Terrier Football Team. i had the honor of being in Stephanie's presence last Nov 6 when the senior parents were honored with their sons. Wow, what a day that was. Two moms so proud of their sons. Stephanie was there with her son, Mervyn. and his uncle. Jones was 2 before Miller in line!! At the football banquet in January, 200, Mervyn's uncle spoke on behalf of the senior parents and Stephanie was right there with the rest of us, praising God for Hiram College and the football program I am at a total loss for words for the honor of being in Stephanie's company and the honor of her being a Hiram parent and football parent with me. Stephanie Tubbs Jones chose Hiram College for her son's education and so did I!! I only regret that I did not get to know Stephanie Tubbs Jones before it was too late. Praise God for her influence as Mervyn's mother and the pleasure I have had to call Mervyn a fellow Hiram College TERRIER!! YOU DONE GREAT STEPHANIE!! HE is well eduated and will do you proud!! I am so proud to say that I knew and loved my Soror Stephanie Tubbs Jones. I had not seen her in person since the grand opening of the Clinton Presidential Library in 2003. I was working as a volunteer and she came up to me after the ceremony in the rain and gave me a big hug and not knowing that I had relocated to Arkansas said "Home Girl, what are you doing here?" It was like old times. She made us all proud! She set a role model for us to emulate.

I am very sad at the loss of such a beautiful person. Even though I never got the chance to meet Mrs. Jones in person, her smile will be one that I will always remember. My mother met Mrs. Jones once and she talked very fondly of her ever since that day. Mrs Jones was one that truly cared about the people of Ohio. There should always be a tribute to Mrs. Jones in the state of Ohio. As the first African American woman to represent Ohio as a Congresswoman on Capital Hill, and one that truly cared about the people, she worked endlessly as promised in her many speeches when she ran for the seat of Congress. Mrs. Jones was a true and dedicated person. The loss of Mrs. Jones has hurt many. You never know how much you really love a person until they take the final journey home. As I write this, I am very teary eye and hurt from the loss of such a beautiful person. This is proof that when a person is as beautiful as Stephanie Tubbs Jones was, they can have a huge impact on the world. As a female veteran of Operation Desert Storm, I was very impressed how she showed an interest in the veterans suffering from the current Iraq war. Mrs. Jones had a heart of gold that no one will ever be able to compete with or match. Stephanie Tubbs Jones will go down in history as a person who strived endlessly . As the strong African American woman she was, we should remember her indefinitely. She was a true role model for women of all nationality. One that has left a legacy that will go down in the history of Ohio.

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones thought the world of her country. She was not only gracious and humbled by her profession but she was tuned into to real life and how we all touch a bit of the world. She gave more to society than she ever accepted or expected to get in return. She will always be admired as a smart, friendly face eager to see happiness and blessings to all who knew and shared political views. I will always remember a picture of her standing beside Louis Stokes which was on the wall in her office in D.C. She picked up and continued doing good things for anyone who shared and loved this country. God Bless You Stephanie for all you have given... for your great attitude and for taking all of us together as friends and giving us the most precious gift...one of love.

I attended High School with Stephanie (Glenville), and the thing that stood out the most about her was how respectful she always was to all those in her presence. She was also a very humurous lady...often you wondered where she came up with half the funny things that came out of her. What a great loss to the world...but where it is we go from here...what ever one believes...that place has gotten a lot brighter...and certainly more knowledgeable! Ciao Steph...prayers for the family, friends, associates...and you too my dear, to send you on your way!

I was shocked and very sadden to hear the news of the passing of such a virtuous powerful woman. I never had the pleasure of meeting her; however she inspired and motivated the masses. To hear her speak and fight for injustice was enough to mobilize a community to better themselves. I was looking forward to many more great things from her and her career. However I know that she is resting in the arms of Jesus. “Smiling” Because her work here is done.

My son and I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Mrs. Jones several times while working on Hillary's campaign in Ohio. She was extremely outgoing and made my 12 yr. old son feel welcomed, hugging him and spending time talking to him. She is the best speaker I have ever heard. Very uplifting and motivating. Heaven just became a better place. God bless her family.

In 1982 or 1983 I was teaching in a local girls' school, when we took a group of high school students to meet with Stephanie Tubbs Jones. She spoke to the teen-age girls about the challenges and the opportunities in her work as a judge, and she encouraged them to pursue meaningful, challenging careers. Many years later, in 2004, the congress woman spoke to the CBA (Cleveland Baptist Association) about how she saw God's work being done in the U.S. government, in the country at large and in the Cleveland area. And she challenged that audience to continue its service to human need in our community and to find new ways to serve and care for our brothers and sisters, here and around the world.

I knew from congresswoman Stephanie D. Jones through the Hillary Clinton Primary Campaing. I learned to admire her because of her determination to support a vision. She surpass a racial ideal to embrace as a woman one kind of solidarity. Her work, dedication, and love for her country will endure for ever. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Stephanie Tubbs Jones had such a beautiful smile, Her and Sen. Clinton were very close friends. I never met her but she was like a member of the family, and I was crushed when I heard of her passing. She loved life, she loved and fought for her country and the American people, she loved all of us. She will be so deeply missed by us all. My condolences go out to her family. I just hope and pray others all over America will remember who Stephanie Tubbs Jones was and what she stood for, and keep on fighting her fight for the Democracy of this Great Nation.

My memories of the congresswoman goes back ten years ago when my mother was hired as an employee for the congresswoman( Saulette Reed). She has always been like family to me and was always known for her strong inspring words/advice to me as I made that transition from a teenager to a woman. She was wonderful woman that has accomplished so much that when advice was provided - you had to take heed to her words. It is still very shocking that she is gone. I wanted to say that I loved her very much and she will be missed. This is a very sad day here in Atlanta for all of us that were blessed to know congresswoman. My prayers goes out to her son, Mervin, and her sister , Barbara. May she rest in peace!!! Love Always.

I came to admire her courage and dedication to her causes during Hillary`s campaign. She was such a positive person. She alway had a smile or a laugh. Her courage will be missed in the Democratic Party as well for all that she touched. I always looked forward to hear her commits and loyality she radiated to her listeners. I know Hillary could of not of had such a Loyal campaigner and friend for quest of the first Woman in the White House. My thoughts go out to her family and friends. She added so much to party and to Women in politics.

I have lived in Ohio my whole life and grew up watching this wonderful woman make a name for herself in Cleveland and then in Washington. She fought the good fight and I am proud to be from the same state at her. She will be sadly missed. I didn't agree with all of her political views, but I respected her. My prayers are with the family during this horrible time. Rest in peace Ms. Jones.
