A massive loss & my sincerest condolences go to his family. I knew Steve throughout our school days and we sat next to each other during Park Middle. A talented pupil in all subjects at school, especially in art, rugby & running. Always had a smile on his face and a real joker that could leave you in stitches. God bless you Steve & R.I.P Regards Rob Farr

I knew Steve from about five years old. The thing that sticks in my mind the most is just how mad Steve was about racing even from an early age. If it was sunny we would be racing around the School at the end of Steves street on our bikes. If it was raining we would be on the Scalextric ( for which he bought motorbike & sidecars). We used to spend hours sat in Steve's yard on his dad's sidecar pretending to race in the TT. At one point Steve even drew up a plan to build a sidecar onto his Grifter. At least you lived your dream.

Although we haven't spoken in many years I was saddened to hear the tragic news on Thursday. Spending time at cub scouts, seeing you regularly around school and in later years our paths crossed during what was probably your early racing career at Bridlington circuit? It just seems like yesterday! Such a great talent, who I know will be missed greatly by everyone who knew you. My sincere sympathy and condolences to your family and friends. Peace be with you Steve.

My memory of Steve is that of many years racing with him, and long conversations over the phone working out how to get more power from the Yamaha’s. He was one of many people who I have the utmost respect for and I will dearly miss him. One of my latest memories is that of racing at Anglesey circuit, when Steve was stuck behind us looking for away round, finally having held him off for two laps he went for the inside line and got us on the way on to the start and finish. A fantastic driver and a fantastic guy all round. My respects to Jim, Adele. Marie, Lisa and Sally and the rest of his family and friends. Pete

I only met steve once, i was helping load outfits, tools, helmets etc into the van for transporting to Tims place for the croatian round. Steve was watching me load dirty wheels, tyres and general stuff, he laughed at me cos he said YOUR A GIRL!!!!!!!! Maybe he was surprised cos i got long girly nails but as i told him 'it's the only ladylike bit about me' It was an absolute pleasure to meet him and yes, most definately One of the good guys RIP steve, you'll leave a gap that could never be filled. x

Known Steve about 18 years and his dad even longer. Devastated to hear the news Sunday night, as everone else must've been, I couldn't believe it. Only last week we were discussing the death of poor Craig Jones. Seen us play in the band loads and many times locally with our acoustic set. Gutted mate, rest in peace.

I tried to catch you but I couldn't. That was 25 year ago in the Park Middle Sports Day 100m race. We were never close but I always remember you as a happy smiling kid. On the occasions that we spoke since leaving school I always found you to be friendly, genial and passionate when you spoke about what you were doing. I didn't follow your racing career closely but got regular updates from friends on the Isle of Man. It was one of those friends who told me about this tragedy on Monday morning. It came as a big shock and memories that I wasn't expecting came flooding back even after all these years. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of those people who were close to you. Rest in peace Steve.
